This is a BIG band. Five horn players stacked stage left, Gregg Allman at his Hammond B-3 center stage, David Brown on bass, Tommy Talton on lead guitar and 3 singers just out of view. A big band soul revue built around one of the best LPs of 1973-- Gregg Allman's "Laid Back." Backed by Cowboy, with Randall Bramblett's saxophone, Chuck Leavell on keys, Jai Johanny Johanson on congas,Bill Stewart on drums, and a full brass section including Harold "Bullets" Williams on baritone sax and trumpeters Todd Logan and Peter Eklund — the Shrine that night felt less like a concert hall and more like the best roadhouse south of the Mason-Dixon line.
