VINTAGE ROCK PHOTOGRAPHY

A treasure trove of rock history has emerged from the personal archives of 8-time Emmy nominated National Geographic filmmaker Ron Bowman—dozens of forgotten negatives capturing the explosive energy of 1970s concerts by the Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Patti Smith and others. Bowman photographed these headliners when he was just a teenage rock and roll fan armed with his trusty 35mm Nikon and a burning passion for live music.

 

Now, decades later, these rediscovered images reveal the raw power of these legendary, live performances through the lens of someone who would go on to become a master visual storyteller. Fleeting moments of musical magic are transformed into stunning photographic art that captures an extraordinary era in music history—and for the first time are available for collectors and music lovers to own.
