The Grateful Dead's "Wall of Sound" system was used for 40 shows in 1974. Designed to eliminate distortion and provide exceptionally clear sound, the 75 ton, 3-stories high structure contained 604 speakers, drawing 28,00 watts of power. In this shot, Phil Lesh is raising his arms to the sky. He described the Wall of Sound experience as "piloting a flying saucer."
